Audix Broadcast have completed the design of a new series of Digital Audio Mixers aimed at the broadcasting market. Frame configurations are available for most applications and may be configured with input and output ports to suit specific requirements.
Excellent audio performance is achieved by the use of 20/24 bit audio words and 32 bit floating point computations. Signal processing algorithms exist for voice dynamics/processing, equalisers, filters, mixing and routing. All the audio functions (including control laws) and controls are specified in the off-line configuration software and downloaded through a serial port connection to the unit's internal non-volatile memory.
Careful design of panel layouts allows users to see the audio signal flow of the desk immediately with all routing and status information shown on single button/control knob functions.

AUDIO PORTS
Both analogue and digital signal formats are supported with analogue inputs available for microphone or line sources. Digital inputs may be switched between fixed and sample rate converted forms, and both input systems are available with input selectors. As the ADD system may be used in mixed analogue and digital domains, external monitor inputs can be a mix of either format. The outputs can be individually configured for mono or stereo use, while digital outputs can include sample rate conversions. On all main signals path analogue inputs and outputs use 20 bit successive approximation converters to minimise processing time delays.
AUDIO PROCESSING
On the smaller audio mixers inputs may be assigned to one of two equalisers each offering three stages of frequency adjustment, together with switchable high and low pass filters. Audix Broadcast is the only manufacturer which provides real time adjustment of all its equalisers at the same time.
Larger systems have multiple equaliser systems which uses true assignable control.
AUDIO INTERFACES
Communications with the outside world may be provided by an optional high quality integral digital telephone hybrid or by an ISDN interface, integrated to the station talkback system. This system gives access to twelve destinations with return circuits being fed to a desk mounted loudspeaker, as well as to the monitors if desired. Where outputs are assigned to outside source return feeds, talkback and cue injects can be handled within the mixing frame.
All ADD audio mixers shipped from May 2000 have the facilities to integrate an ATM digital audio network Gateway.
CONTROL INTERFACES
Each of the four styles of desks has multiple machine interface facilities. All machine and control ports can be programmed to include front panel push buttons, channel faders, and external logic ports. Typical functions such as Mic Lives, Telephone ringing, Transmission Live etc. already exist in the software portfolio. Upto 32 I/O resource ports can be programmed to meet your system needs using EASYMIX software suite.
All ADD audio mixers shipped from September 2000 have the facilities to integrate and connect directly to the ANTS digital control network.
