The ABS uses SMART "Sealed Miniature Audio Routing
Technology" which offers much higher reliability than any
mechanical interlocking switch assembly. CLIC "Custom Logic Interface and Control"
is used to provide elegant, simple and reliable solutions for
logic systems.
Configuration
The console frame is
available in three standard configurations for On Air
aplications: 8 channels with side script area for Production, and
12 or 16 channels with central script area.
Facilities
16 Channel Faders which can be
configured for mono or stereo inputs
15 Assignable Mix Outputs
configured with electronic or transformer balancing
PPM / VU / Bargraph metering
Solid State Indicators
Balanced Silent Switching
Monitoring and Communications
systems directly in front of the Presenter
Where Microphone signal processors
are required, the ABS has separate amplifiers which allow
for the processors to be inserted in the signal chain.
Modules are available with or without front panel
controls.
Telephone
The Telephone module provides an
interface between a PTT line and a Digital
Hybrid. The presenter
can establish or answer calls using a conventional
handset before switching the line to the hybrid. Full
duplex talkback with the caller is via the presenter's
microphone and headphones.
Stereo -
Mono Selector
When interfaced with the correct
fader module, input Sources may be Mono or Stereo.
Machine starts are interlocked with the input selection
and can be individually programmed for Momentary or
Alternate action.
Control
Systems
The ABS Series of
equipment control modules contain core features of both stereo
and mono channels. Each control module is equipped with fine
gain, "shift" control providing pan or balance
characteristics, and a true 'in position' prefade listen system.
Equalisers
Both the Mono and Stereo
Equalisers have three sections: High/Low frequency
shelving characteristics +/- 15dB boost and cut at 10KHz
/100Hz, Mid frequency has peak and trough characteristics
+/- 15dB boost and cut, variable from 20Hz to 8KHz.
Voice Over
and Group Limiter
This module provides central
facilities to control each of the 2 voiceover busses and
the group limiter. The voiceover buss has a common cut
back control to vary the ducking level as well as
individual in-out switches. The group limiter has the
unique feature of being designed to control the gain of
each microphone in the group, so ensuring that the
balance of the mix is retained under all circumstances.
Output Amplifiers and
Communications Systems
With the amplifiers mounted in the centre section below the
script cover, the ABS desk has an architecture to allow for up to
15 separate configurable outputs, the amplifiers being mounted in
the centre section below the script cover. Transformer output
options are available on 10 of these outputs, all others are
electronically balanced.
Monitor Systems
For ease of use, the monitoring system is mounted directly in
front of the presenter, and features:
6 way Stereo Monitor Selection of
Internal and External Sources
Cut and Dim control facilities
Independent presenter and guest
headphone outputs
Meter Selection
Monitor Directly in front of
presenter
Optional 12 way Stereo Monitor
Selection system
Studio Desk
Control Interface Module
This module forms the
nucleus of the studio control interfaces. The module is designed
to combine all the desk routing and control functions to provide
an integrated system.
